Headed to the river and falls
Niagara River
When we arrived we were shocked to see all the tall buildings around. We weren’t expecting the falls to be in the midst of a large city!
Rainbow!
We rode an elevator down to the water below the falls
We rode on the Maid of the Mist ferry to look at the falls from the bottom. It was well worth the money!
All decked out in our ponchos & ready to board the ferry
If you cross the bridge behind us you get to go to Canada.Tim & I brought our passports but my mom and Spence didn’t have theirs so we didn’t go. Bummer :(
We found out why they call it “Maid of the MIST!” They drive the boat way up to the falls and you get soaked!
It got a little loud & cold when we were close to the falls so Kate reached into my poncho & grabbed her favorite thing for comfort—my hair! :) And as you can see in this picture we are nowhere near the falls so she didn’t let go for quite a while :)
You can see the camera got a little wet
Walking off the ferry
We rode an elevator up to the top and got to look off the bridge that crosses into Canada (on the US side, of course!)
Pointing at the falls
Getting another look
We crossed the bridge over the Niagara River (not the one going into Canada—it was the water BEFORE it went over the falls) so that we could see the falls from the other side.
We went down onto that pathway on the bottom right and onto the platform that hangs over the falls.
My mom stayed up with Kate in the stroller. There were a bunch of stairs (you can see them on the left) and the viewing platform was a little out of my comfort zone for a toddler who is also known as an adventurous monkey!
A slightly closer view of my mom & Kate (if you squint really hard you can see them next to the lamp post :))
The water before it goes over the falls
More rainbows
You can pay extra money to go down onto that red walkway but it was under construction and you wouldn’t be able to see much so we opted not to pay the extra.
Here’s another view of the Maid in the Mist ferry.
I’ll leave you with another pretty rainbow :)

How pretty! That is interesting that the falls are in a big city...I would've thought they'd be somewhere more outdoorsy :) The picture of Kate grabbing your hair is too cute!
