London Day 3

We started our day going to the London Tower.

Here it is from a distance (this picture was taken on our tour from day 2)
This is down in a little courtyard. They were doing mock catipults with water balloons and wooden people (if you click on the picture and look really hard you can see the teal water balloon right below the top of the white building). The man said that they would use all sorts of things way back when. Things like heads of lettuce as well as heads of the enemy that they had chopped off! He also said they would use pigs... but only the ones that were sick :)

A draw bridge... at least that's what I think this looks like but we never saw a plaque telling us it was for sure :) The mote with the alligators was just all dried up, that's all :)

This is the weapon room. The sign near the entry said "hands on" but everything was attached to the stand it was sitting on! I guess you could put your "hands on" them and pick them up slightly but not too far! :)

This chain link armor was HEA-VY! I guess as long as it protects you... even if you are stuck to the ground because you can't get up! :)

The Tower of London was HUGE. This little village looking area was inside of it!


We had planned from the time we found out we would be stopping in London to go to the London Temple. However, we had purchased our tickets to the London Tower the day before thinking we would have plenty of time. We found out that the temple closes early on Saturdays and knew we wouldn't be able to make it in time for a session but thought that maybe we would get lucky and the worker at the door would let us have a tour of the inside. We rode the train to the city it was in and then figured we would catch a cab to take us to the Temple from there.

Tim on the train on the way back. He he! :) Well, this is what he was doing until four guys got on the train and sat across from us... British accent, drunk, and gay. Need I say more? It was a good thing we had a window to look out cause we had a HARD time containing our laughter at times! I kept having to bite my cheek and stare out the window! :D
Speaking of out the window... here is what we saw on our train ride:



This if for you Andrea! :) Who knew that the Morrison's had a store in England!? I thought it was pretty cool when I saw it and of course HAD to take a picture! :)

When we got off the train the train station was empty and there were NO cars in the parking lot and NO taxis to be seen. We actually saw a couple that was getting ON the next train that came heading back to London. They looked like they may have come from the Temple so we were forward and asked if they had just come from the Temple and they said they had tried but were unable to locate a taxi and the Temple :( Well, we decided we had already come all this way we at least had to try. So, we set off on foot. Three miles couldn't be THAT far, right?

A close up of that crazy window! They actually had a few windows that looked like this. Maybe they use it to hypnotize their children to get them to sleep... you are getting veeery sleeeepeeeee.

Do you think this is a speed limit sign? That was our guess but we never found out for sure.

Well, we walked FOR-E-VER in the direction we thought we should go... it was the wrong direction! We arrived at a horse race track (I don't know the correct name... if there is one:)) So, we turned around and started walking the other direction :) We walked what felt like forever in that direction (still not knowing if it was the RIGHT direction because there were many forks in the road) and I kept praying a praying that SOMEONE would know where it was and be kind and drive us there. We saw two ladies chatting at the side of the road so stopped and asked them. The one who lived in the house they were standing in front of said, "Oh yeah. It's way too far to walk though. I'll drive you." (I got in the back and Tim tried to get into the driver's seat forgetting that they drive on the opposite side of the car and the road! :))
Hallelujah! Our prayers were answered and we FINALLY got to see the London Temple!!!
We had someone take our picture and it wasn't exactly what we wanted (we wished there was more of the Temple showing), but better than nothing! We weren't able to see much of the inside. We told the worker at the front desk our situation and chatted with him for a while. He was nice but didn't offer to let us see the inside :( He did find us a ride back to the train station though! While we waited for our ride we walked around the Temple grounds. This is what we saw: (it made up a bit for not being able to see the inside:))

SOOOOO beautiful! There was a pond and fountain and beautiful walkways surrounding them Temple. It was heavenly... too bad we had a time limit because we had a ride waiting to take us to the train station.

When we got back to the city we stopped at Trafalgar Square.
