Sunbeam!

On Saturday night I tried to prep Kate for her first day as a Sunbeam. I told her “tomorrow you get to go to the big Primary the WHOLE time (the soon-to-be-Sunbeams went for singing time only all of December) and be a Sunbeam!” Then Kate said excitedly, “Yep, and you don’t get to come, Momma!” That surprised me and I thought the transition might go a little easier then I had anticipated. I wanted to get a photo of her on her first day of Sunbeams for Tim since he couldn’t be there with us and, well, her face says it all…

She was not too happy. I sat with her for the opening prayer, scripture, song and talk and then told her I needed to go blow my nose. As I said that she seemed fine but then when I started walking out she tried to follow me and her teacher snatched her up! She was crying and reaching for me and it was the saddest thing especially with Tim’s departure still fresh in our minds. I felt like she probably thought we’d both abandoned her! I work in the nursery so I sent the other nursery leader to go peek in the Primary room for me to make sure she was okay. She said she was sitting on her teacher’s lap and was not crying at all. Whew! I didn’t have to feel like the worst Momma in the world! By the time I picked her up this is what she looked like:

My grandparents work in the library so I took a few pictures of Kate in there after church because she was being so silly! Sunday morning when Kate woke up she looked so much older to me for some reason. Maybe I was just mentally prepping myself for the next step in Kate's life or something. Whatever it was, my baby is growing up :(
